Use of Machine learning in Disaster resilience

Hi Ushahidi community and developers,

I am curious to know what are the current challenges in disaster resilience and how can ML fill some of the gaps. Some of the applications I can think of are:

  1. Analyzing satellite imagery and aerial imagery to feed into crisis maps
  2. Analysis social media: photos, videos and text and feed it into crisis maps
  3. Real time translation between various languages.
  4. Real time recommendations for solution/aid providers based on their expertise and current needs locally

A little about me: I am software engineer currently focusing on AI and Deep learning and looking for ways to put those skills to good use. I also have a few more friends who would be interested in lending a hand if it is useful. Would love to hear from this community!
