Hello mt20,

I was just checking your site. Quick question: How did you change the available time scale for the to/from slider in the main page? Mine is only showing dates for this year.

Thank you,

Pablo

#3

Ah Pablo I wish I knew!! :) LOLLLL.

I actually want to change it back to this year only and it keeps showing up only until 2008.

I think it depends on how many years back you go in the reports because at one point I went as back as 2001 and the slider showed only until 2006. I removed that report and my first report starts at 2003 and now it shows until 2008. MAYBE this has something to do with it.

does that make sense? :)

#4

It does make sense. I'll give it a try. BTW, I'm looking into the images issue. Which version are you using? Did you modified the code?

#5

I JUST downloaded it about two weeks ago so it must be the most recent version. Not sure which version.

Oh and you asked about modifying the code. Well I put in Arabic language and modified css and also had a few glitches that I had to make work. But the images issue was before any of that modification and continues to be after the modifications.

#6

I've been doing some modifications on my installs (to add Spanish support) and it happened a couple times that seemingly "innocent" change cut off some functionality, so I keep a series of "clean" sites, for comparison.

I'm checking 0.9 and it works. Problem is for that version they still did not track the version number in the database, and you can't trust application/config/version.php

Here's an entry in the httpd log:

69.134.x.y - - [16/Nov/2009:14:40:46 -0500] "GET /ushahidi_09/media/uploads/2_1_1258400380.jpg HTTP/1.1" 200 28722 "http://mysite.org/ushahidi_09/reports/view/2" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3) Gecko/20090824 Firefox/3.5.3 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)"

Do you see anything like this?

Also, do you have gd installed?

Check config/upload.php. Is it pointing where it should? (uploads)

Pablo

#7

Version is 0.8

No, I see nothing like this httpd log

what is gd?

The config/upload.php is pointing to correct folder.

#8

Check the httpd log, you should see either a 404 or a 200 for the each image.

GD is the graphics handling package (http://www.boutell.com/gd/). You need to have it installed.

Pablo

#9

Install the gd where and in which folder? does that override jquery?

and can you point me to the exact location of the file to download at gd? there seem to be a hundred of them there!!

When I looked at it, it says it is for windows server and not for apache nor for using php. Am I wrong?

#10

Try:

yum -y install gd*

That's for RH/CentOS systems, depending in your distro, you may be using other package managers, ie. apt-get

What about the httpd logs?

Pablo

#11

Nothing in the httpd logs

:(

#12

nothing as in "empty"?

access_log should show something. Either it find the image (code 200), or something else happens... Do you get a 200 code?

you can use something like:

tail -n 100 [log name]|grep 200|grep jpg

to see if any 200 code came from accessing a jpg file, change the number of lines to suit your usage/installation

Pablo

#13

No no it has logs.. but not 400 or 200. Let me make sure though that I am talking about the same thing as you: the folder that has the logs is in application/logs/ correct? or is it something else?

I cannot use grep etc because I am only using filezilla and not through a terminal.

Can we take this off this board and email instead and then when we solve it come back here and post the resolution? I just have a feeling this will be long. :(

my email is @ yahoo and it is maymoonshine

Thanks

Just wanted to say what a GREAT patient person Pablo was in helping me through this. In the end I had to reinstall several times.. nothing really worked, but he gave me a link to a more accurate and bug-free installation and I installed it.

THANK YOU PABLO ever so much!!
