How to create Overlayers

Hey all,

I am an absolute newbie in Ushahidi, but I want to create overlayers, in Google Map if possible. OSM might be another possibilty but it take a lot of time to upload the map. Does anyone has experience with setting up overlayers and give a me advices

(API Keys, KML etc)
